If you’re using the Google Docs app on your iPhone, it’s easy to save your documents as PDFs. You can use this file format to share and export them, whether you’re using a web browser or the app itself.

Getting Google Docs to PDF is a simple process that can be done from a web browser, or the app itself on your iPhone and iPad. You can also convert your documents to PDFs via email.

How to Convert Google Docs to PDF on Your iPhone

If you need to send someone a Google Doc, or even if you want to make sure that your docs are safe offline, you can turn them into PDF on your iPhone. It’s a quick and easy process.

The first step is to open the document that you wish to convert. This can be a new one or an existing DOC file that you’ve saved to Google Drive.

Once you’ve opened it, tap the three dots at the top right of your screen (Figure A). You’ll see a drop-down menu called Share & Export, where you’ll find options for sharing and exporting.

Step 1: Open the Document

Google Docs is a word processing app that allows you to create and edit documents online or offline. The app features a simple interface with plenty of editing tools. It works with all the most common file formats and supports a variety of page sizes.

The Google Docs app lets you edit a document using familiar tools such as text formatting and margins. The app is also great for sharing documents with others in real-time.

To open a document, tap the document tile. This will bring up a screen that shows the filename, date created and any permissions you have related to the document.

Depending on your permissions, you may be able to use Find and Replace, Share & export or other options. You can also mark a document for offline access.

Step 2: Tap the Three Dots

Google Docs is a cloud-based word processing tool that allows different users to share and edit documents in real time. If you want to convert Google Docs into PDF files, there are a few ways to do so.

One of the most straightforward ways is to upload a PDF file from your computer into your Google Drive account. Once you do, you can open the file in Google Docs, and it will start converting it to a PDF document that you can work on.

Another option is to email it to the recipient, who will receive a link that automatically downloads the PDF version of the document. To do this, just enter the recipient’s email address in the “To” section and add a subject line and body text.

Then, you can choose to send it via AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Slack, or any other available medium. Once the PDF is prepared, it will appear in a gray menu at the bottom of the screen called the iOS Share Sheet (Figure B).

Step 3: Share & Export

Google Docs is a great tool for editing documents online, but it also lets you save your work locally on your device. This is especially useful on days when you’re traveling or don’t have an internet connection.

You can convert a document from Google Docs into PDF format by tapping the three dots and selecting Share & Export followed by Send a Copy. This will create a PDF version of the file that can be saved directly to your iPhone or shared through other methods like direct download, email-based sharing, Airdrop, or cloud-based file sharing.

The process is easy and works on both iOS and Android devices. Just open the document and tap on the three dots at the top of the screen to get the Share & Export option.

Once you have selected this option, you can tap the PDF icon at the bottom of the screen to select a PDF format and then hit OK. This will save the file in your iPhone’s Documents folder.

Step 4: Tap Send a Copy

If you want to share your document with someone else, you can use Google Docs’ sharing options. You can send a file to anyone who has access to your Gmail account or create a shared link that anyone can open to view and edit the document.

To create a shared link, click on the link icon that looks like two overlapping silhouettes of people’s heads and shoulders. This will open the “Who has access” menu and let you choose whether the recipients of your link can view or edit the document.

After you select who you want to share the document with, Google will email them a notification letting them know that you’ve shared it with them. If you don’t want the recipients to receive the notifications, tap the three dots at the top-right corner and choose Skip sending notifications.

Step 5: Select the PDF Format

When it comes to sharing files, a PDF is often the most reliable file format to choose. Unlike other file formats, PDFs can be saved and read anywhere without having to worry about losing them.

Thankfully, you can use your iPhone to save documents in this format. Just follow the steps listed above and you’ll be able to convert any Google Docs document into a PDF.

After you’ve created a PDF on your iPhone, there are a few different ways to view it. One way is to open it in iBooks or another PDF reader app. Alternatively, you can also download the file to your iCloud account so that it’s accessible across all of your devices.

If you’d like to view the file in a web browser, you can do that too. To do so, tap the three dots icon on the top right corner of the screen and select the “Save to Files” option.
