How a Blow Dryer Works

A blow dryer is an electromechanical device used to dry hair, and also a tool for improving or creating different styles of hair. It is used by both professional stylists at salons and by consumers at home. It blows normal or hot air over the hair in order to accelerate the evaporation of water particles and dry the hair (Srinivas Boddula). It can be used with styling products and hair brushes to improve and enhance the appearance of the hair.

A hair dryer works by using a fan and a heating element to generate a current of air that is then blown out through the nozzle of the dryer. The fan is powered by a small electric motor that sits inside of the casing of the dryer. When you supply power to the motor, it spins the fan, which in turn draws in air from the holes around the casing. The air is blown through the heating element, which turns the electrical energy into heat energy. The amount of time the air spends in the heating element determines how hot it is.

The final product is then pushed out through the nozzle of the hair dryer and blown onto the hair. Most hair dryers have both high and low airflow settings, which vary the amount of heat generated by the motor. The higher the heat setting, the more it takes for the motor to spin, and therefore the more hot air is pushed out.
